In honor of the day, a little Jonathan Coulton for you. (Probably NSFW.) Now, go dance around a maypole or something.

Dating Support Group for Madison-area Geeks

(I'll copy the ad text since CL links disappear in time.)

Are you a geek? Do you stay up all night playing World of Warcraft? Do you watch hours of anime? Do you custom-build computers from parts (even spare parts?) Are you all about the role-playing games?

Do you find the opposite sex confusing?

We are starting a group of Madison-area geeks who would like to improve their dating skills. Weekly meetings will cover topics such as meeting new people, approaching women, setting up and going on dates, as well as other types of social interactions.

This group is meant to provide encouragement and support for those who want and are willing to put in the time and energy to do as the show says and 'become more than just a...geek.'

This could be a very, very good thing. Being a geek myself, I know how awkward we can be. As a *girl* geek, I know that sometimes our geeky brethren could stand a clue or two. (Not that girl geeks don't have our own set of dating and social issues, but this group seems to be geared toward guys. I will, however, be the first to sign up if there is ever a workshop for geek girls entitled "Hey, he's flirting with you, dummy!" Maybe someday at WisCon?)

May Day

The first of May is one of my favorite days of the year, even if nothing happens. It's flowers day, dancing day, falling in love day, getting crazy because spring is really here day. Trees are in flower and everything is an outrageous hue of yellowy-green. Soon there will be lilacs. Even more importantly, soon there will be Lilies of the Valley. (Both may, in fact, be out now, but I just haven't seen them.) The world smells fresh and fragrant.

It is at this time of year when I remember again why I continue to live through those long, hard Wisconsin winters. Would the spring seem as sweet without the contrast of all that salt?
