There are certain websites that I read and use on a regular basis and when they go down I find myself refreshing the page every half hour or so just to see if it is back up yet. My top five are:

1. Making Light
2. LiveJournal
3. Craigslist
4. Gmail
5. the private message board of which I am a member

What internet sites are you lost without?

XKCD and a few other webcomics
Private and self-run sites that make up the other 1% of my websurfing time.

I read faaaaar too many webcomics, but I guess as far as "lost without" goes it's really just down to LJ and Wikipedia.

That is one of the nice things about the "far too many webcomics" issue (speaking as someone who has over a dozen bookmarked and who keeps adding more)--when you read so many, if one comic or another goes down for a day, there are 10 more that are still functional in the meantime.

Have you ever seen the Doctor Who fanfic webcomic, The 10 Doctors (http://www.shipsinker.com/wordpress/2007/03/10/a-doctor-who-comic-the-10-doctors/)?

What I really dislike is when you have a webcomic that you really like and then the author (for one reason or another) stops working on it.

/Yeah, I'm looking at you Ian Jones-Quartey!

If you've ever played a console RPG game, you'll enjoy it. Trust me.

But . . . but why is the Foamasi ambassador so adorable? He's out of hand!
